Simple Puppy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 July 2026 · Effective: 31 July 2026
This policy explains how the Simple Puppy mobile app (the “App”) collects, uses, and protects your information, and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are (data controller)
The App is provided by ZephyTech Software Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC894412).
For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at zephytech.software@gmail.com.
2. What data we collect
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the App.
Account information
- If you sign in with Google: your email address, display name and a unique account identifier, used to authenticate you and sync your data across devices.
- If you use the App as a guest (anonymous): no email is collected; an anonymous identifier is generated so your data can be stored and synced. See retention for how guest data is handled.
Content you create
- Pet profiles and the activity events you log (e.g. potty, meals, naps, training, weight and health records), including timestamps. This is the core data that makes the App work.
- Pet photos you choose to add to a pet profile, stored in Firebase Storage. Photos are only visible to the members of that pet profile and are deleted together with the pet or your account.
Purchases and subscription
- We never see your payment details. Google Play is the seller and takes the payment. Your card number, billing address and payment method are handled entirely by Google and are never sent to us.
- Subscription status: if you buy Simple Puppy Plus, we receive which product you bought, when it started, when it renews or expires, and whether it was cancelled, refunded or is in a billing-retry period, together with the Google Play transaction identifiers. We store this against your account identifier so the App knows what you have access to, and so “Restore purchases” can find your subscription again.
- Free trial: we record the date your 7-day trial was granted, so that it is granted only once per account.
Technical & diagnostic data
- Push/messaging token (FCM): a device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging, used to sync your data between devices, keep the home-screen widget up to date and deliver notifications.
- Crash & diagnostic data (Crashlytics): when the App crashes we collect diagnostic information such as device model, OS version, app version, and a crash stack trace, to diagnose and fix faults. This data is not linked to your account identifier.
- Support correspondence: if you contact us or send a bug report, we receive the details you include (your contact and account details, your message, and any device information in the report).
3. Why we use your data & legal basis
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the App, store & sync your pet data | Account info, content you create | Performance of a contract |
| Widget sync & notifications | FCM token | Performance of a contract |
| Sell and provide Simple Puppy Plus: verify your purchase, unlock the features you paid for, run the free trial, and restore your subscription on a new device | Purchase & subscription data, account identifier | Performance of a contract |
| Diagnose crashes & improve stability | Crash & diagnostic data | Legitimate interests |
| Answer queries, complaints & bug reports | Support correspondence | Legitimate interests |
| Comply with the law | Name, contact information | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests: our interest is keeping the App stable, secure and functional, and resolving the issues you report — which directly benefits you. Diagnostic data is primarily technical (device models, error codes) rather than directly identifying, so the privacy impact is minimal; support information is only used for the exact purpose of assisting you. You can turn off crash reporting at any time in the App's Settings, or object to this processing using the contact details above.
4. Crash reporting
The App uses Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) to detect and diagnose crashes, on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the App reliable. You can turn crash reporting off at any time from Settings → Crash & diagnostic reports in the App. You may also object to this processing by contacting us at zephytech.software@gmail.com.
5. Service providers (sub-processors)
We use Google Firebase (Google Cloud EMEA Limited) to operate the App: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Storage, Cloud Messaging and Crashlytics. Google processes this data on our behalf as a sub-processor under its own terms. We also use Gmail (Google) for our support email.
We use RevenueCat, Inc. (United States) to manage Simple Puppy Plus: it checks your purchase with Google Play, tells the App what you are entitled to, and restores your subscription when you reinstall or change device. RevenueCat receives your account identifier and your purchase and subscription data, and processes them on our behalf. It does not receive your email address, your name, your pet data or your photos.
Google Play is the seller of Simple Puppy Plus and handles the payment itself. For that payment, Google is a separate data controller with its own privacy policy — we never receive your payment details.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
6. People you share a pet with
If you invite family members or other caregivers to a pet profile, they can see that pet's details, activity history and photos, and the display names of other members. You control who you invite, and a pet's owner can remove members at any time.
Whether a shared pet has Simple Puppy Plus features depends on at least one of its members having a Plus subscription. Members are shown whether the pet itself is currently limited, but we never tell them who subscribes: we do not show one member another member's subscription status, trial dates or purchase history.
7. Where your data is stored
Your account information, pet data and photos are stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) servers located in the European Union.
Your purchase and subscription data is processed by RevenueCat on servers in the United States. What crosses the border is limited to your account identifier and your subscription status — not your email address, your pet data or your photos.
Where processing occurs outside the UK/EEA, it is protected by standard contractual safeguards: the data processing terms we have in place with Google and with RevenueCat, incorporating the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
8. How long we keep your data
- Active accounts: we keep your data for as long as your account exists and you use the App.
- Guest (anonymous) data: if a guest account shows no activity for 90 days, the associated data is automatically and permanently deleted.
- Deleted items: when you delete an event, it disappears immediately and is permanently purged from our systems within 30 days.
- Crash & diagnostic data: retained by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days.
- Support correspondence: kept for up to 24 months after your query is resolved, then deleted.
- Purchase & subscription records: we keep these for 6 years, which is how long UK law requires us to keep records of the transactions behind our accounts and tax returns. RevenueCat holds them for as long as we use its service on our behalf, and deletes them when we stop. These records also survive account deletion (see the next point) so that “Restore purchases” keeps working if you reinstall the App or come back with a new account — otherwise deleting your account would silently destroy a subscription you had paid for.
- Account deletion: when you delete your account, your data — including the pets you solely own, their event history and photos — is removed from our systems immediately. The one exception is the purchase and subscription record described above, which is kept for the legal and practical reasons given there. It contains your account identifier and what you bought and when — not your pet data, your photos or your email address. See below.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
The right to erasure has one narrow limit here: we cannot delete the purchase and subscription records we are legally required to keep for our accounts and tax returns, as explained under how long we keep your data. Everything else goes.
To exercise any of these, email zephytech.software@gmail.com. We must respond without undue delay and in any event within one month. You can find out more about these rights and the exemptions which may apply on the ICO's website.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office: Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF · helpline 0303 123 1113 · ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
10. How to delete your account & data
You can delete your account from within the App: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and the data associated with it. If you no longer have access to the App, follow the steps on our account deletion page or email us.
11. Children
The App is intended for people managing pet care and is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
